Basic Needs Services

Imani’s Basic Needs Specialty clinic strives to ensure that all Imani patients and members of the Oak Park community in Sacramento are provided essential items for a healthy life. Our goal is to combat nutritional insecurity that plagues predominantly black communities such as the Oak Park community. Lack of grocery stores, public transportation, and healthy food options make it difficult for community members to meet their nutritional needs.

As a part of basic needs clinic, we create care packages for our community members which include healthy snacks, toiletries, water, blood glucose monitors, and more. These care packages are distributed to our patients during our basic needs clinic days which are the 3rd Saturday of each month. We also distribute these care packages to the homeless population in the Oak Park community about 3-4 times a year. For our clinic patients, we do grocery runs twice a year where we provide fruits, vegetables, bread, and any other requested food items to our patients’ homes.

Cal-Fresh:

We have Cal-Fresh certified volunteers that can help patients and community members get enrolled into the Cal-Fresh program. Cal-Fresh is a federal food assistance program that provides members with a monthly stipulation that can be used to buy grocery items from most grocery stores. Certified volunteers can help patients fill out required documents in order to apply for Cal-Fresh.
