Cancer Disparities Symposium
In recognition of Multicultural Cancer Awareness Week during the third week of April, the Coalition joins the UC Davis Cancer Center in hosting the Sacramento Cancer Disparities Symposium. On April 24, 2010, the first ever symposium of national experts addressing spectrum of cancer disparities in underserved communities was held in Northern California. Presentations included successful cancer screening programs utilizing venue of student-run clinics, keynote speaker Dr Mack Roach who presented unique clinical trial analyses not previously published and a cancer survivors panel sharing their experiences of the cancer journey. Over 70 attendees participated and greater than 90% of those surveyed rated all program elements as highly satisfactory.
